Tackling TB among hard-to reach groups in London
Training & advice
Find and Treat work with frontline staff and managers of allied agencies to increase knowledge and awareness of TB. Training sessions have proved to be very effective in motivating staff to think of strategies to maximize uptake during an MXU screening session and alerting workers to the high rates of undetected TB within certain settings such as homeless hostels.
Peer educators [Peer-to-Peer TB Education Project] work alongside members of Find and Treat and contribute significantly to training and awareness sessions. By highlighting some of the barriers to diagnosis and treatment they experienced as patients, Peer educators are able to offer a ‘service user’ perspective on screening and follow-up treatment and can support patients to take treatment.
